OpenAI announced on May 11, 2026, the establishment of a new company, OpenAI Deployment Company (DeployCo), to help organizations build and deploy AI systems in their daily operations. The new company will deploy engineers known as "Forward Deployed Engineers" (FDE), specialists in cutting-edge AI implementation, to client organizations. Working alongside business leaders and frontline teams, these engineers will identify areas where AI generates the most value, redesign organizational infrastructure and critical business workflows, and integrate them into sustainable systems. Coinciding with the launch of a new company, OpenAI has also agreed to acquire Tomoro, an applied AI consulting and engineering firm. As a result, approximately 150 experienced FDEs and deployment specialists are expected to join the new company from day one. Tomoro has a proven track record of building and operating real-time AI systems for mission-critical operations at companies such as Tesco, Virgin Atlantic, and Supercell, where reliability, integrity, governance, and business outcomes are prioritized. The acquisition is expected to close within a few months, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. OpenAI Deployment Company was established as a joint venture between OpenAI and 19 global investment firms, consulting firms, and system integrators. The partnership is led by TPG, with Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield joining as co-founding partners. Additionally, B Capital, BBVA, Emergence Capital, Goanna, Goldman Sachs, SoftBank Corp., Warburg Pincus, and WCAS are listed as founding partners. From the consulting and system integration sectors, Bain & Company, Capgemini, and McKinsey & Company will also participate as investors. The new company will be majority-owned and controlled by OpenAI, with plans to expand its operations through an initial investment of more than $4 billion and pursue acquisitions of companies that help advance its mission. Typical customer support begins with a diagnostic process to pinpoint the areas where AI can create the most value. FDEs then integrate into the organization to design, build, test, and deploy priority workflows selected in collaboration with the client’s management and frontline teams. The company aims to implement systems that can be reliably utilized in daily operations by connecting OpenAI models with customers' data, tools, controls, and business processes. Dennis Dresser, Chief Revenue Officer at OpenAI, stated that as AI becomes increasingly capable of performing meaningful tasks within organizations, the new company will serve as a bridge to integrate AI capabilities into actual business infrastructure and workflows, translating them into operational outcomes. According to OpenAI, more than one million companies have adopted its products and APIs, and the next phase of enterprise AI will be determined by how effectively businesses can deploy the technology into their frontline operations.
